The Battle of Mosul

Overview

October 2016 marked the onset of the fierce battle for Mosul, the Islamic State's claimed stronghold in northern Iraq. With remarkable on-ground access, filmmaker Bernard-Henri Lévy documents the struggles of Kurdish fighters alongside Iraq's elite Golden Division. As they navigate the war-torn streets in a joint effort to reclaim the city of two million, tensions arise. While they achieve significant victories, the ambitions of the Kurdish forces sometimes clash with their allies, revealing the complexities of wartime alliances and the harsh realities of liberation.
