Gangland S01E09 - Gangster City

Episode Overview

Gangs have been a part of human society for as long as people have existed. Daryl Gates, the former Chief of Police in Los Angeles, believes that a fundamental aspect of human nature drives individuals towards gangs—specifically, the desire for respect, safety, and belonging. This phenomenon remains consistent regardless of whether a nation operates under a totalitarian regime or a democratic system, and it transcends historical periods, from feudal times to the present day.
