Behind Bars: The World's Toughest Prisons (2016)
S01E04 Tent City — Arizona, USA
Episode Overview
Tent City Jail, located in the Arizona desert, is no ordinary prison. Inmates here endure harsh conditions, as the facility is made up of makeshift tents rather than traditional cells—leftover army tents from the Korean War. These tents lack insulation, resulting in sweltering summer heat that can soar to 140 degrees Fahrenheit, while winter nights can plunge to frigid temperatures below freezing. Life inside this facility is a constant battle against the extreme elements, making it one of the toughest places to serve time.
