Episode Overview
David Olusoga embarks on a journey to explore British history through the lives of those who inhabited a Georgian home on Ravensworth Terrace in Newcastle upon Tyne. Delving into the property's past, he uncovers its origins through the original deeds, tracing its construction to local builder William Mather, who completed it around 1824. The first notable occupant was William Stoker, a dedicated lawyer and family man, who ascended the social ladder and eventually became the town coroner.
