Episode Overview

Arthur Randall finds himself trapped in a loveless marriage, secretly in love with his secretary. His wife, unwilling to grant him a divorce, is persuaded to take a trip together to attempt to mend their relationship. After some hesitation, she agrees, and they head to their lakeside cabin. While out on the boat, a tragic accident occurs when Arthur's wife falls overboard and drowns. In a moment of desperation, he removes a ring from her finger—a ring he had planned to give to his secretary. Arthur briefly returns home but soon feels compelled to go back to the site of the incident.
