Mystic Britain S01E05 - The Pagan Prince

Episode Overview

What began as a standard excavation on a modest traffic island in Essex unexpectedly transformed into a groundbreaking archaeological discovery. In 2003, an ancient pagan burial chamber was unearthed, revealing a wealth of artifacts from the Dark Ages, including an astonishing find: gold foil crosses that date back almost two decades before Christianity's introduction to the area. Could this tomb belong to an early pioneer of the faith that would come to shape Britain for the next 1,400 years? This discovery raises intriguing questions about the implications for the Anglo-Saxon deities that once ruled the landscape.
