Through a series of flashbacks, the evolution and decline of their relationships unfold. Kate experiences her first encounter with Ryan. Danny brings his boss Paul to Palm Springs in hopes of impressing him. At Ryan's birthday pool party, Michael unexpectedly crosses paths with Ryan's former boyfriend, Adam, leading to a revelation that alters everything.
