Mallory's desire to purchase a car hits a snag when Steven declines to co-sign her loan. Meanwhile, Jennifer is deeply engrossed in crafting a play about the closing days of Nixon's presidency. As Steven anxiously anticipates Mallory's return with his vehicle, she eventually comes home late and faces her father's frustration. In response to his impatience, Mallory proposes that it might be time for her to consider buying her own car.
