Episode Overview

In April 1907, Emily, a disheveled kitchen maid, is convinced that fate has united her with William, a charming footman, and she falls head over heels for him. However, when Mrs. Van Groeben, his demanding mistress, discovers their romance, she furiously instructs William to end things with Emily. This sudden rejection leaves Emily shattered and pushes her to take a drastic step in her despair.
