Million Dollar American Princesses S01E02 - Wedding of the Century

Episode Overview

By 1895, unions between the daughters of affluent American families and financially struggling British nobility were in full swing. However, these marriages often carry heavy emotional and financial burdens. While some women discover genuine love abroad, others, such as Consuelo Vanderbilt, face a life of despair, isolation, and scandal. Host Elizabeth McGovern sheds light on how these narratives influenced the acclaimed series "Downton Abbey." She then delves into how the daughters of America's wealthy industrialists managed to navigate and flourish within their new aristocratic environments.
