Overview

Thirteen-year-old George McCray grapples with the recent loss of his father in a tractor accident while staying with his grandparents on their Kansas farm. Longing for his mother, Jill, who is in Minnesota coping with her own grief, George looks forward to their Christmas reunion. As he navigates this challenging time, he finds purpose in assisting his grandfather Bo with farm tasks and providing comfort to his grandmother Cora. Meanwhile, he forges a bond with Mary Ann and takes in Tucker, an affectionate dog abandoned by his troubled owner, Frank Thorne, who is currently incarcerated.
